Rishab Shetty‘s Kantara which he directed and acted in, gained praise in multiple languages like Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam.
After its success, a prequel titled Kantara: Chapter 1 is now being made with a big budget. The final phase of shooting started on the 2nd of this month in the Herur forest area of Hassan district, Karnataka.
However, local villagers raised objections, accusing the crew of using explosives and starting fires that harmed the forest.
They were worried that the fires were driving wildlife into human settlements and demanded the shoot be stopped to protect the environment.
During a clash between the crew and the villagers, a local youth named Harish was injured and taken to the hospital. Following this, a complaint was filed against the crew at the Esalur police station.
Action will be initiated against the film crew of Kantara: Chapter 1 if it is found that they violated the conditions of shooting the film in the forests, said Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre on Monday.https://t.co/3kZbiDXgxF pic.twitter.com/Auax00gcUj
