California has been destroyed by wildfires, leaving parts of Los Angeles in ruins. The fires have destroyed nearly 59 square miles of property, damaged at least 12,000 structures, and killed at least 24 people in California. The Pacific Palisades and Eaton fires, which occurred near Hollywood, have destroyed homes of numerous celebrities, including Mark Hamill, Heidi Montag, Paris Hilton, and Spencer Pratt.
While celebrities have expressed their heartfelt sorrow for the victims, the tragedy has brought out humanity in many celebs, businesses, and locals who have committed to helping the wildfire victims.
Among them is Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who announced a donation of $1 million that would aid the ongoing wildfire support and recovery efforts in Los Angeles County. Taking to social media, the Titanic star expressed his concern over the impact the disaster will have on the region.
“The Los Angeles wildfires are devastating our city. I am committing $1 million in partnership with @rewild’s Rapid Response Program to support both urgent needs and post-fire recovery efforts,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.
As per his message, the funds will provide immediate aid to several organisations actively working on the ground, including the LA Fire Department Foundation, the California Fire Foundation, World Central Kitchen, the California Community Foundation, the Pasadena Humane Society, and the SoCal Fire Fund.
Other celebs who have contributed to the victims of the Eaton Fire are Beyonce, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Guest, and Eva Longoria, among others.
