Industrialist Nikhil Nanda, the son-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan and husband of Shweta Bachchan Nanda, has been booked for fraud and abetment to suicide.
Following a court order in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, an FIR was lodged at Dataganj police station against eight people, including Nikhil Nanda, in an alleged fraud and aiding suicide case. Nanda is the CEO of Escorts Kubota Limited and grandson of late actor Raj Kapoor.
The FIR lists eight accused, including the UP head of the company, its area and sales managers, and a dealer from Shahjahanpur associated with Nanda’s company. Gyanendra Singh filed the complaint, stating that his brother, Jitendra Singh, who ran a tractor dealership called Jai Kisan Traders, was pressured by several individuals to magnify tractor sales.
According to Gyanendra Singh’s FIR, his brother faced constant threats and harassment from the accused employees and officers of the agency, who persuaded him to increase the sales and blackmailed to revoke his dealership license. They also allegedly threatened to auction his property if sales didn’t improve.
Unable to bear the pressure, Jitendra revealed everything to his family but took his own life on November 22, 2024, after going into deep depression following continuous intimidation.
Although an FIR was lodged shortly after his death, no action was taken against Nikhil Nanda and others named in the complaint until now.
