
Laxman Utekar’s historical drama, Chhaava, opened in theaters on February 14 to a strong response. The film, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, became the biggest Hindi opener of 2025 and marked Vicky’s biggest opening film as a leading man. This has created a wave of ecstasy in the film industry and among the film’s team.
On its first day, Chhaava collected an impressive Rs 31 crore net in the domestic market, with an overall 35.17 percent occupancy in Hindi. Vicky, who plays the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response and love from moviegoers.
He took to his Instagram page to share photos from Chhaava’s promotional events and penned a note thanking his fans. He wrote, “Aapke pyaar ne #Chhaava ko sachmuch Zinda kar diya!!! Previously, Vicky Kaushal’s biggest opening film was Bad Newz, which earned around Rs 8 crore on its opening day.
Chhaava is an adaptation of the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films.
