A significant development has emerged in the Saif Ali Khan’s attack case, in which the Bollywood star was stabbed by an intruder with a knife who barged into his Bandra house in the early hours of January 16.
Following the attack, the 54-year-old actor underwent two surgeries at Lilavati Hospital, and the investigation is ongoing. The actor was discharged from the private hospital on January 21.
Meanwhile, the police informed that the fingerprints of Shariful Fakri, the suspect in the attack case, matched the samples collected from Saif’s home. However, a final report on the fingerprints is awaited. The accused is a Bangladeshi national who had been working illegally in India. During the interrogation, he revealed that he wanted to steal from a wealthy household to pay for his mother’s medical treatment.
The police confirmed on Thursday that two staff members at Saif Ali Khan’s residence had identified Shariful Fakir as the person who attacked the actor after entering his house. Prior to this, Mumbai police had conducted an Identification Parade (IP) at the Arthur Road jail in connection with the actor’s attack.
On the other hand, the police also confirmed that the facial recognition of the Bangladeshi man matches with the man seen in the CCTV footage from the Satguru Sharan building, where Saif lives with his family.
