Pankaj Tripathi has become the co-founder of Velvet, a new platform for cinematic audio stories. This platform aims to transform storytelling by offering immersive audio experiences.
Tripathi co-founded it along with actor and dialogue coach Vikas Kumar, Akshat Saxena, Varad Bhatnagar, and Sharib Khan. Velvet focuses on bringing India’s rich storytelling tradition to a global audience.
The beta version was launched in July for distribution partners, and the platform became publicly available in October 2024. To expand its reach, the company brought Pankaj Tripathi on board.
Talking about the platform Tripathi said, “Storytelling is deeply rooted in our culture. From folk tales to epics, our stories inspire, educate, and entertain. With this platform, we wanted to create a cinematic experience for the ears, transporting listeners into a world of imagination”.
He added that Velvet is not just for entertainment but also for preserving and promoting storytelling in a modern way.
Velvet primarily offers content in Hindi but plans to expand to English and other Indian languages. It aims to collaborate with famous personalities, especially from cinema, to lend their voices to stories.
