Odisha-based rising rapper and hip-hop artist Abhinav Singh, who is also known as Juggernaut, has reportedly died by suicide in his Bengaluru apartment. He was just 32. According to reports, Singh consumed poison after being allegedly harassed by his wife’s fake accusations.
Singh’s body was discovered on Monday, prompting the Bengaluru police to launch an investigation. Meanwhile, the police said that the rapper’s family has alleged mental harassment by his wife and lodged a case against her in Odisha.
News outlets India TV and Indian Express quoted Shivakumar Gunare, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield, as saying, “On February 9, around 9 pm, he had dinner with his friend and returned to his flat.”
Abhinav gained popularity with his hit track ‘Cuttack Anthem’ and worked in the automation testing wing of Power School India Private Limited, a software company at Embassy Tech Village.
The rapper’s family has also alleged that he took the drastic step due to mental torture by his wife and her family. A case of unnatural death has been registered by the Marathahalli police in Bengaluru, and they have handed the rapper’s body to his family for the funeral rituals.
Abhinav Singh had a stage name, Juggernaut, and was quite popular in the Odia rap and music scene. He also owns Odisha’s first independent hip-hop label named Urban Loafer.
