Singer Kalpana released a video on social media to clear up rumors about her suicide attempt. She said there were no family problems and asked people not to believe the false news about her. She also shared that she is alive today because of her husband, Prasad Prabhakar.
In the video, she mentioned that she is studying PG and LLB with her husband’s support. She explained that she has been under stress due to balancing singing and studies which led to sleep issues. Following her doctor’s advice, she had been taking sleeping tablets.
Kalpana assured that she would return to singing soon and thanked the police, media, and fellow singers for their support.
Two days ago after returning from Kochi, she took an overdose of sleeping pills in the afternoon. She then called her husband, saying she had taken many tablets but did not know the exact count, and hung up. When she didn’t answer his calls later, Prasad informed the villa secretary.
The police were alerted and she was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors washed her stomach and put her on a ventilator. Fortunately she regained consciousness the next day.
I have no differences with my husband. Due to stress-induced insomnia, I was taking medication as per my doctor’s advice. However, an overdose led to a state of unconsciousness.
