Kaliyugam 2064 Review
Kaliyugam 2064 Movie Story: “Kaliyugam 2064” is a futuristic thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world where the rich live safely in a city called Residents, while the poor struggle as Liberators. Bhoomi (Shraddha Srinath), in search of safety, ends up trapped by Thomas (Iniyan Subramani). Though he treats her kindly, dark secrets about him slowly unfold. The film follows Bhoomi’s fight for freedom and survival.
Performances: Shraddha Srinath’s performance feels fresh, as we haven’t seen her in such a role before. Her character reflects the mindset of a futuristic human, making her portrayal quite unique.
The director gives a reality check through the character of Thomas. Iniyan Subramani appears intense and brutal in that role. His character is as terrifying as it is honest. While Thomas seems scary at first, by the end, he makes the audience think deeply.
Although the film runs on Kishore Kumar’s narration, his character itself lacks a proper structure.
Technical Aspects: Director Pramodh Sundar delivers a strong message that humans should act with empathy, not cruelty. While the idea is impressive, he struggles to present it effectively on screen. The standout contributors are cinematographer K. Ramcharan and art director Shakthi Venkataraj, who bring the 2064 timeline and Thomas’ home to life with impressive detail. The use of RGB lighting adds depth to the film’s emotions. Editing is crisp and fast-paced, but the output loses impact due to poor CGI work. Despite its flaws, the film’s core message and technical effort deserve appreciation.
Analysis: Some stories sound great in concept, and “Kaliyugam 2064” is one such film. It is filled with thoughtful ideas and meaningful intentions. However, the screenplay could have been more gripping to fully engage the audience. As it stands, “Kaliyugam 2064” turns out to be an above-average film with a strong message. It’s worth a try, especially for its impressive technical values.
Verdict: “Kaliyugam 2064” has an interesting concept and strong technical values but lacks a gripping screenplay. It’s an above-average film, worth watching for its futuristic themes and visuals.
Bottom Line: Concept strong, execution lacks impact.
Rating: 2.5/5
