Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s starrer period war drama, Chhaava, is all set to release on February 14, 2025. Adapted from Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhava, the film is based on the glorious life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava, which is made on sensitive beliefs of the people, underwent Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) scrutiny before its grand release. According to a report by TV9 Bharatvarsh, the board has mandated a few tweaks and granted the film a U/A 16+ certification.
The modifications requested by the CBFC include changes to dialogues, muting certain words, and even removing an entire scene from the film to ensure accuracy with history and culture. One example of such a change is rephrasing the line “blood of the Mughals” to “blood of Aurangzeb.”
One notable change involves removing a scene depicting Maratha warriors dressed in sarees. Additionally, the word “Ameen” was replaced with “Jai Bhavani” in a dialogue, and a certain expletive used in the film was muted. Another addition includes an audio disclaimer at the end, crediting the book on which the film is based.
Chhaava has a runtime of 161 minutes and 50 seconds, approximately 2 hours and 42 minutes. Vicky Kaushal will be seen playing the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
