Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has decided to leave Mumbai expressing his frustration with the current state of the Bollywood industry.
In an interview, he revealed that he has moved out of the city and wants to stay away from the film world, calling it “too toxic”. While he didn’t disclose his new location reports suggest he may have shifted to Bengaluru.
Kashyap criticized the industry’s obsession with chasing massive box office numbers saying that the creative spirit is gone. He also mentioned that many filmmakers are leaving Mumbai.
This is not the first time he’s spoken about moving away. He previously said that filmmaking has become more about business than creativity, making it difficult to experiment. He confirmed that he is officially leaving Mumbai next year.
Despite stepping away from Bollywood, Anurag continues to explore new projects. He recently presented Manju Warrier’s film Footage and will also be seen playing a cop in Adivi Sesh’s action thriller Dacoit.
