Ekta Kapoor is planning a sequel to Udta Punjab a film about Punjab’s drug crisis. The project is still in the early stages and filmmaker Aakash Kaushik has been brought in to write and direct.
While there is no official confirmation but reports suggest that Shahid Kapoor is being considered for the lead role, Udta Punjab 2 will be directed by Aakash.
The sequel will not continue the same story but will again focus on Punjab’s drug issue. Abhishek Chaubey is not part of the project as he is busy with other commitments.
Ekta Kapoor is interested in bringing Shahid Kapoor back for the film but discussions are still in the starting stages.
A final decision will be made once the script is finalized and production is expected to begin next year.
