Vishwak Sen’s Laila is set to release in theaters on February 14th. Directed by Ram Narayan and produced by Sahu Garapati the film has landed in controversy after Prudhvi made a few comments.
Upset by his comments the party’s supporters started a ‘Boycott Laila’ trend on social media with over 25,000 tweets appearing quickly.
In response Vishwak and producer Sahu Garapati spoke to the media. Vishwak visibly emotional apologized but questioned if the whole team should suffer because of one person’s mistake.
He clarified that they had no idea about Prudhvi’s comments and that they had nothing to do with the film. He also asked if a movie’s success should be affected by social media trends.
Producer Sahu Garapati said they were unaware of the controversy until it spread online. He stressed that they had no control over what guests say at events and urged people to watch the film purely for its content.
