Kangana Dismisses Oscar Buzz For Emergency

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency was released on Netflix last week, and she has been sharing reactions and reviews on Instagram.

A fan suggested that the film should go to the Oscars but Kangana dismissed the idea, saying America wouldn’t acknowledge how it suppresses developing nations, as shown in Emergency. She added that India has its own National Awards.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta praised the film, admitting he had initially misjudged it. Kangana thanked him and urged the film industry to set aside biases and appreciate good work.

Many viewers called Emergency her best performance, even surpassing Queen, TWM2, Fashion, and Thalaivi. By Sunday, the film was trending at 1 on Netflix, ahead of Azaad and Thandel.

Directed and produced by Kangana, Emergency portrays the 1975 Emergency period with her playing former PM Indira Gandhi.
